Between 1976 and 1979, Jill Mumford was Art Director for Polydor Records where she designed logos, record covers, posters, advertising and point of sale material for such artists as Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Jam and The Who.

In 1979 she started in freelance design. Clients included RCA, CBS and MCA, Virgin and Island Records.
